I didn't actually know there had been new revisions.

My DualSense that came with the console has really mushy buttons, which I actually love, it's very pleasing sensory-wise for me.

The Nova Pink and GoW Ragnarok versions that I bought later, the buttons were a bit more solid. Is this a revision thing or just a luck of the draw thing?

They all use the same capacity battery. Whether or not there are changes that make the controllers more energy efficient, who knows. I don't think anyone's tested that.

I thought this was a luck of the draw kind of thing, going off of my vague recollection of the various documented changes so far.

The other thing I thought was big was that revision 1->3 has much improved haptics durability. Revision 1 and 2 apparently had haptics that could give out within a year, and anecdotally speaking only, yeah, my launch DualSense had weakened (but not outright dysfunctional) haptics after I played Returnal. When I got my first Revision 3 controller, it felt much stronger haptics-wise, but I sold that controller and grabbed a metallic blue one when they became available, which I believe is revision 4. That one does have the same haptics feel as the one I had traded in for it, though.

I don't think any of the other changes to these revisions would be immediately apparent without internal investigation like the videos in the OP.

That make a bit sense, why would they improve battary capacity without trying to sell it? Energy efficient is something I can believe they could do in revision.

Didn't know revisions on the dual sense were a thing. I bought a dual sense last week for the first time since the PS5 launch and the only difference I made out was the start and share buttons are mushier on the new controller I got. The launch Dualsense were more clicky and out more.

Sounds to me like they are just finding ways to streamline and use cheaper material/designs for the triggers...

Yeah, I think that's pretty much all that's happened with rev4 and rev5 at this point. I do think there was an increase in trigger haptics intensity and durability going from rev2 to 3, and that's really the only substantial thing that end users will actually notice... and it's mostly just backed by my own anecdotal experiences (I've owned a rev1, rev3, and rev4 controller at this point).

"I will say that if you have a Gen 1 or a Gen 2 the triggers are harder to push."

Does he mean Gen 1&2 triggers are harder to push, or that the new Gen 5 has harder triggers than 1&2?

Just checked my Midnight Black, it's 4th generation.

30th anniversary DualSense better be the latest revision!

that trigger hinge thingy now being full plastic feels like a cost cutting measure prone to go wrong.

Oh, so the price went up like 50% in Japan and the controllers are worse quality?

Great job Sony.

Based on the video, only the Triggers are being altered between each version. So it wouldn't effect drift, which is good for their bottom line since that'll force people to replace their controllers (If they don't fix it themselves).

Well triggers got replaced. No idea if this improves them, but I saw like since the purple controller which should be version 3, the springs got better which may not loosen up quickly when using trigger effects mechanism.
No idea if battery is improved but we saw months ago a controller in Micromania which was lighter and has better battery but we don't know what happened to that or was it a special version.

Sorry to bump this but this thread is very helpful:

I checked the PS5 Pro controller serial number from this video:

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWNdX2s5dZ8&t=275s

And it shows it is the 4th verison of the Dualsense controller and not the 5th one. Since it is a F4 and not F5
It shows that Sony doesn't even bother packing the PS5 Pro with its latest controller revision..
